Sec. 1 This organization shall be called The Eastman Garden Club. It was organized March 1936, joined federated Garden Club of Georgia 1938.
Sec. 2 The purpose of this club shall be to promote the love of gardening; to beautify our community; to study the culture and arrangements of flowers and plants; and to aid in the protection of native trees, shrubs, flowers and birds; to enhance Eastman and our community at every opportunity.
Sec. 1 The membership of this club shall not be limited.
Sec. 1 Annual dues shall be Twenty Dollars ($20.00) per year.
Sec. 2 Dues shall be paid during the month of September.
Sec. 1 Officers of the club shall consist of President, 1st Vice President, 2nd Vice President, Secretary, Assistant Treasurer and Treasurer.
Sec. 2 Officers shall be elected at the April meeting and installed at the May meeting for a term of 2 years beginning May 30th.
Sec. 3 A Nominating Committee consisting of three member shall be appointed by the President at the February meeting and shall report to the club at the April meeting with officers installed at our May meeting.
Sec. 4 Vacancies shall be filled by a nomination from the club officers and voted on by the club.
Sec. 1 The President shall preside at all meetings, be responsible for appointing all standing committee chairmen and be a member ex-officio of all committee except the Nominating Committee.
Sec. 2 The 1st Vice President shall act as aid to the President, shall perform the duties of the President in her absence and serve as chairman of the Program Committee.
Sec. 3 The 2nd Vice President shall act as aid to the 1st Vice President and in the absence of both shall preside at meetings. She shall coordinate all club social activities (eg. Christmas luncheon summer event, etc.)
Sec. 4 The Secretary shall keep an accurate record of all meetings of the club and shall perform such duties as may be delegated to her. She shall check the roll at meetings.
Sec. 5 The Treasurer shall receive all moneys of the club; keep an accurate record of funds; and shall present a statement of account at every meeting. She will provide a detailed report to the Secretary to be included in the permanent records. The Treasurer has authority to sign all checks.
Sec 6. The Assistant Treasurer shall assist Treasurer with duties as called upon, assume treasurer duties in absence, incapacity of treasurer or any reason deemed necessary; be aware of all reports of treasurer, sign bank signature card for access to deposit/withdrawal of monies of club; participate on Executive Committee; and other assigned duties. The Assistant Treasurer has authority to sign all checks.
Sec. 1 There shall be the following standing committees: Publicity, Tour of Homes, Courthouse Grounds, and GA DOT Wildflower Project.
Sec. 1 The Chaplain shall head this committee.
Sec. 2 Bud vase (flowers) will be sent to members who are reported to the Chaplain as being hospitalized and cards will be sent as necessary. It was suggested that flowers be sent after the person comes home.
Sec. 3 A pot plant will be sent in the event of the death of a member or spouse of a member.
Sec. 4 The Chaplain shall be responsible for the collect at each club meeting.
Sec. 1 The regular meeting of the club shall be on the second Thursday of each month at 10:30 AM, except June, July, and August, special meeting dates to be decided by Club.
Sec. 1 The rules contained in “Roberts Rules of Order Revised” shall govern the club in cases to which they are applicable, and in which they are not inconsistent with the laws of the club.
Sec. 1 These by-laws may be amended at any regular meeting of the club by a two-thirds majority of the members present provided a notice of the proposed amendment has been given at the previous meeting.
